Our story

How Seeds of Fire began

Seeds of Fire began in February 2016 when Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, WI, was awarded a Stand With Your Community Grant jointly sponsored by the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Thrivent Financial, and Lutheran Church Extension Fund.

Stand With Your Community grants were awarded to projects that brought a living witness of the Gospel into the wider community. The members and leadership at Good Shepherd wanted to host a community film series because they saw family breakdown and hopelessness in their community, as well as public antagonism toward Christian ideas throughout the culture.

Seeds of Fire was developed by The Brushfires Foundation to help Good Shepherd communicate God’s truths about sexuality and healthy relationships to the broader Fox Valley of Wisconsin. Brushfires was founded in 2012 to equip the Church to offer a compelling, Christian response to the sexual brokenness of the world. Seeds of Fire is under the oversight of the Brushfires Board of Directors. Seeds of Fire has also been blessed with extraordinary spiritual, promotional, and financial support from these wonderful groups.
